The Mayor of Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council, Councillor Anne Chebsey, has kindly invited the Group to a Cheese and Wine Reception to be held at the Guildhall on Tuesday 10 March. More details will be circulated nearer the time. We are also arranging a fact-finding tour of the new theatre prior to its opening—again, more details coming soon.

Darwin’s bicentennial - a Mount Residents’ exclusive!
To celebrate Charles Darwin’s birth in 1809, the Mount Residents’ Group has been granted exclusive access to ‘The Mount’.

Amidst all the worldwide publicity that is being given to celebrate Charles Darwin’s birth in 1809, the Mount Residents’ Group has been granted exclusive access to ‘The Mount’ (Darwin’s birthplace) on the evening of his bicentennial anniversary, Thursday, 12th February. We shall be organising a ‘nibbles and wine’ evening, starting at 7pm, at which we can raise a glass to Shrewsbury’s most famous son. Places are limited for what will undoubtedly be a very popular event, so are restricted to paid-up members, who should contact our chairman, Ron Iremonger (phone 356768), if they wish to attend. Many thanks to the District Valuation Office for allowing us to hold this celebration.

RAF Shawbury Visit
